MediServe Offers Analysis to Determine the Impact of CMS’ 2012 IRF PPS Final Rule

Chandler, AZ – August 31, 2011 – MediServe introduced a complimentary analysis service that helps inpatient rehabilitation providers gain a better understanding of how CMS’ 2012 IRF PPS Final Rule (2012 Final Rule) will impact their facility both clinically and financially. The analysis applies the 2012 changes to the facility’s current patient population, HIPPS volumes and facility-level adjustment factors to accurately predict the effects of the 2012 rule.

“The 2012 Final Rule will demand greater focus on the rigors of patient care management, including tight processes around functional improvement and dispelling barriers to discharge in a precise disciplined manner,” said Darlene D’Altorio-Jones, PT, MBA-HCM, rehabilitation management strategist, MediServe. MediServe analyzed the effects on the nation’s IRF industry and found that 90% of facilities will see a change of less than 5%. Of that 90%, 29% will be negatively impacted and 71% will be positively impacted.

It’s important for inpatient rehabilitation providers to know which direction their variance is heading. Inpatient rehabilitation providers who would like assistance determining how their facility will be impacted by the 2012 Final Rule are encouraged to complete our online form.
