The total effects are yet to be fully played out and will doubtless be far reaching. Regardless of various voices and opinions about the rightness or wrongness of the decision by SCOTUS, one outcome is certain: increased amounts of people with health coverage means increased amounts of people seeking healthcare.

The question I pose today is; “Are we ready?” Are the necessary programs in place to care for this multitude across the healthcare continuum? Are we prepared to meet them where they are; treat them in their distress, educate them about their disease, empower them to manage their symptoms and encourage them to take responsibility for their own well being? We have been talking about these things for some time now. It seems to me that the window of opportunity has narrowed. For our nation, yesterday was the day of decision, today is the day of action!
